13 March 2015 We are very excited to announce that our very own Rolly has successfully entered into an army program that will train him to become a detection dog. This is the beginning of a wonderful career and life for Rolly & although we will miss him, we know he is in great hands and will be very looked after. You have done us proud, Rolly! Xxx
6 March 2015 Boo needs your help. This adorable girl is Boo. She is a Staffy X Kelpie and is only 2 years old. Boo has not had a great start to her life. 3 homes in 18 months and then abandoned at the pound. She has been with us since October 17. Imagine that, 5 months in a pound. When Boo first came to us she was a scared, confused, trembling mess that hid in the back of her kennel. She was fear aggressive and terrified of her surroundings and all the strange people. It took staff a week to get near her and almost 3 weeks to get a lead on her and walk her around the facility. Poor Boo has a lot of issues. She is extremely wary of strangers, is selective with her canine friends and shuts down when she is scared, but we will not give up on her. We know the love she is capable of as she shows us every day. She always greets us with a “smile” and a butt wiggle. This girl has a very special place in the hearts of all staff and volunteers and she deserves a chance at a happy life in a home of her own and we are determined to make that happen. Changing this kind of behavior is near impossible in a shelter environment so we have contacted a specialist training centre in Sydney to help us. Boo will go into boarding at their facility and undergo intensive training to help her cope with the things she is frightened of. The initial course is 2 weeks but could go longer depending on how responsive she is. This training will cost $730, plus extra if she stays longer than the 2 weeks, and we need your help to help Boo. If you would like to make a donation Boo would be incredibly grateful. You can donate by either popping into the facility or paying directly into our bank account. Or you can donate atgofundme.com/o1jxfo If you would like to deposit into our account please pm and we will give you the bank details. SoCares is a registered charity so all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

2 of our gorgeous poundies, Bear and Beau, went on trial with Corrective Services as therapy dogs. Well we got the call we have been waiting for today and we are absolutely thrilled to announce that both dogs passed the trial with flying colours and are now officially accepted into the program to be trained as therapy dogs for Australian Soldiers and Children with Disabilities. This is an amazing achievement for our dogs and our small pound. Congratulations Bear and Beau, you did us and yourselves proud. The worth of a poundie??? Absolutely Priceless
